Cesar Paternosto (b.1931, La Plata, Argentina. Lives and works in Spain since 2004). Since the mid 60′s, when this sculptor, painter, writer and curator living in New York, began to change the paradigms of abstraction with monochromatic wall installations. His return to the south of the continent expanded their vision of geometry revealing a genesis of forms present in the pre-Columbian legacy sculptural and universal tradition of textiles. It works with indigenous names entitled to designate the time, because its purpose is to extend the boundaries of inner perception through a poetical form. It may take up to Mondrian’s legacy extreme practice of leaving the front surface and locate blank colored geometric shapes on the sides of the box, or report beyond how intertwined the past ancestral continental with the western edge to create new horizons in geometric abstraction. The representation in his work ultimately refers to the structure of thought.
